CANCELLED: Toledo Speedway June 19 Race Event

TOLEDO, OH: (6-19-09): After heavy rains and thunderstorms in the morning and the forecast for an 80% chance of more rain and severe weather, Toledo Speedway management has decided to pull the plug and cancel the Friday, June 19 race card. The call was made just after noon.

"We have race teams coming from 2-3 hours away, from Grand Rapids, Flint, Canada and Indiana, not to mention the fans," said Scott Schultz, General Manager.  "We have already sat through 2 rain delays on back to back Fridays in May, after we started the shows.  We are going to assume the weatherman is correct in this forecast for tonight in the Toledo area," added Schultz.  "We can't win either way, but we can save our fans and teams time and money by making this call early in the day.  And with the current economic crisis we are all dealing with and the forecast, we felt it was best to cancel the show."  The Friday evening forecast included heavy rain, thunderstorms, wind and possible hail.

A make-up date for the 75 lap Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Late Model event is yet to be determined.  An announcement regarding a possible date will be made soon.  The June 19 show, sponsored by Speedway Tire and Auto, was to have also included the ARCA Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinders.

ALL coupons dated for June 19 from Marco's Pizza, the Toledo Blade and the Monroe Evening News will be honored for the Friday, June 26 program only.  All tickets dated June 19 will also be honored on June 26 only.

The June 26 race card will feature a 50 lap ARCA Sportsman feature, along with the ARCA Figure 8's, 4 Cylinders and the Speedway Tire and Auto Factory Stocks.  The night will be sponsored by Speedway Tire and Auto, 7-Up and Destination Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau.  Destination Toledo President and CEO David Nolan will compete in the 4 Cylinder class.

The front gates open at 5, time trials will begin at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  The track is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan/Ohio border.  The track phone number is 419-727-1100.  For current information, go to http://www.toledospeedway.com/.
