Toledo's Fastest Short Track Show, USAC Spint/Midget Tickets Now on Sale

TOLEDO, OH: (5-28-09): Two of the top short track open-wheel shows in the Midwest will take place at Toledo Speedway in the coming weeks. Friday, June 12 is the All American Coach/Qualite Sports Lighting "Fastest Short Track Show in the World", featuring the ISMA Super Modifieds and Auto Value Super Sprints (AVSS) and Friday, July 3 is the date for the USAC doubleheader, with the Sprints and Midgets, sponsored by Hemelgarn Racing and Super Fitness. Reserved seat tickets now on sale for both events.

Reserved seating can be obtained for both shows by calling Toledo Speedway at 419-727-1100.  The reserved section features 300 seats with backrests and plenty of leg room.  Every other row of seats was removed to implement the backrests on the benches.  The section is located in the center of the main grandstand, directly on the start-finish line.  VISA and Mastercard are accepted for phone orders.

The fastest race machines on the planet will hit the high banks of Toledo's ½ mile paved oval for the Fastest Short Track Show in the World Friday, June 12.  Both the ISMA Super Mods and the AVSS Winged Sprints will qualify for bragging rights of which car is the fastest!  With the fastest lap times hovering in the low 13 second bracket and below, the speeds are incredible and have made time trials an event in itself.  Cameron Dodson owns the ultimate track record at 12:902 in an AVSS machine.  ISMA's Chris Perley holds their lap record at Toledo at 13:116.

The June 12 schedule will see the pits opening at 1 p.m., practice begins at 3, with the front gates opening at that time.  The much-anticipated time trial session begins at 5, with the race card starting at 7:30 p.m.  All American Coach and Qualite Sports Lighting have teamed up to sponsor the event, which draws fans on their way to Michigan International Speedway for the NASCAR weekend.  Sprint Cup champ Tony Stewart has been a frequent spectator at Toledo for the Fastest Short Track Show in the World.

After a 1 year absence, the USAC Sprints and Midgets return to Toledo Speedway Friday evening, July 3 for the Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness Night.  Local businessman Ron Hemelgarn, who has fielded Indy cars for many years, has once again stepped forward to sponsor the return of USAC.  The non-winged machines were a force at Toledo during the 1970's.  Hemelgarn, the 1996 Indy 500 winning car owner, has always backed the grassroots racing of short tracks and was instrumental in the return of USAC to the Glass City oval.

Practice will begin at 4:30, time trials are set for 6 p.m. and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  The reserved seats for the July 3 race are now on sale by calling the track at 419-727-1100.
