FLAT ROCK/TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (1-19-09) This is the second of our winter bulletins. February issue will be posted around the 19th. The new schedules are posted on the website. We'll be adding promotions and things like that as we move forward. Flat Rock office is closed; Toledo phone number is 419-727-1100. Please direct all calls to Toledo. Please share this bulletin with those who do not use the computer! WEBSITE:  Got a photo of your car in the garage this winter?  What else are you doing in the off-season?  We're going to start posting information in the off-season on the website; information will change every Monday; send any information you would like to share, and no more than 1 photo to:  sschultz@arcaracing.com.  There is now a photo gallery on each webpage; we'll change that each week along with any information passed on to us.

TAX FORMS/WINNINGS:  1099's have been sent.  If you have changes or corrections, call Donn at the ARCA office at 734-847-6726.

Membership forms:    Will be mailed to driver/owners March 1.  If you want forms earlier, please call Sherry at the ARCA office.  **When filling out your membership, please add email address. 

FLAT ROCK:  Each class will run their heat races in 2009; we won't be skipping heats like we have in the past due to high car counts and saving time.  Obviously on some nights, a division may not run heats (special events).

FLAT ROCK LM TIRES:  There will be NO impound program in 2009.  With the schedule, there would have been only 2-3 impound nights.  We will continue to check tires; more information on the entire tire program will show up in next bulletin.   Price for tires and fuel are yet to be determined.

MORAN CHEVROLET:    Pat Moran will return as the sponsor of the Flat Rock Late Models; Miller Lite will co-sponsor the class again in 2009.  More detail later...Thanks, Pat!

FLAT ROCK PAD RENTALS:  New deal:  Save $50 on a pad ($150) if paid by April 1.  After April 1, price goes to $200.  You have until April 10 to renew your pad.  Rental form will be put up on website this week.  We will NOT mail out pad rental forms-download the form, send in with payment, please.  If you do not have a pad and would like to be put on the list, call 419-727-1100.

Qualifying points:  Change for 2009:  Top 5 receive points:  15-10-5-5-5. 

LATE MODEL GOLD CUP: has 5 point races; 3 races at Toledo, 2 at Flat Rock (the way it was several years ago).  Toledo races are a pair of 75 lap races and a 100 lap event; Flat Rock is the 100 and 150.  The Flat Rock 100 lap race is in July for 2009.  Glass City is again an invitational. Allegiant Air will return as associate sponsor of the Gold Cup.  Still working on title sponsorship.......

TOLEDO:  BCSN will telecast 4 races in 2009; May 1, June 5, July 17, Aug. 14. 

TOLEDO PAD RENTALS:  Same as last season; form will be posted on website this week.

**Crew members:  The Whitmer High School Automotive Technology class in Toledo has at least 4 students who would like to serve as volunteer crew members on race teams at Toledo!  If you are interested, call the Toledo office.

Car numbers:  We work with everyone!  If you are changing a division or want a new number, or are a new racer, call 419-727-1100.  We'll hold your 2008 car number up to opening night; if you're not going to make it on time, just let us know.......

Car Shows:  March 20/21 at Frenchtown, Monroe; at Westfield Franklin Park in Toledo March 27/28.  NEW-we are moving in THURSDAY night, shows are Friday and Saturday, move out Saturday night.  Should see more folks this way.  WE NEED TO FILL THESE MALLS WITH RACE CARS!!!  Get your car ready early!  These shows are very important in terms of pre-season marketing..not just for the track, but for each team.  Maybe you can keep a sponsor or get one by doing these shows----who knows?

LAPCEIVERS:  This is a unit about the size of a pager that allows you to see your lap times all night!  Just punch in your transponder number and it's ready.  Don't need to go to the shack to see your times!  It looks like about $179 from Westhold, our transponder company.  We'll try to have a brochure from them very soon....

Mike Bolick:  (See website for information):  Mike is now home, walking around, etc.-the doctors are impressed with his strength, but he has some obstacles facing him.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Season tickets/gift cards:  Are now on sale!  You can download the form off the website or call us at the office.  Gift cards are just $25 and they're good at both tracks!

2009 Banquet:  For those of you that plan ahead, the date for next year is Friday, November 6 at Crystal Gardens in Southgate.

RACER'S REUNION/MARFC MEETING:  Saturday, March 14.  Reunion is open to EVERYONE, the whole day is!  Great day with old photos, etc....if you raced around the area, there's probably a photo somewhere of you and your ride!  Reunion is Noon to 5, with Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Meeting at 6:30 p.m.  Mark this date on your calendar.

BOWLING TOURNAMENT:  We've heard all the bowling stories...well, Sunday, March 15 you and everyone are invited to the Flat Rock/Toledo Bowling tournament!  We'll have cash awards for high game, etc. and you can also get involved in the Super 9 No-Tap Singles Tournament as part of the day.  We'll start at 1:30 p.m.  It's at the Glass Bowl Lanes in Toledo, on Telegraph Road, just ½ mile south of Alexis Road (about 2 miles from the track).   They also sponsor the Winner's Circle at Toledo....Make your plans, we'll have more information in the February bulletin!!!!

Charlie Orns will return as the Toledo Speedway photographer this season...

AND.....Greg Riddle will return as race director at both tracks on a nightly basis.  Send your cards and letters to Greg!

Again, Feb. bulletin will be out around the 19^th or so.   We're still searching for sponsors just as you are...keep digging, let's work together and hopefully things will ease up a bit as we get to race season!  Thanks!
