Toledo Speedway's 50th Anniversary Schedule Ready: USAC Returns

TOLEDO OH (1-12-09): The 2009 season will mark the 50th Anniversary of racing at Toledo Speedway. The new schedule is now out, featuring weekly racing, open-wheel racing and the usual variety of touring series that will make stops at the lightning-fast 1/2 mile paved oval.

The season opens with a special event featuring the ASA Late Models Saturday evening, April 25.  The weekly Friday night opener is set for Friday, May 1.

The ARCA Sportsman, Factory Stocks, Figure 8's and 4 Cylinders will be in competition for a majority of the dates on the new schedule, highlighted by Friday night weekly racing.  The ARCA Late Models return for 3 dates for the Glass City Gold Cup Series, with two of Flat Rock Speedway's biggest Late Model events also becoming part of the Gold Cup in 2009.  The track's signature event, the Glass City 200 Late Model invitational, has a new date of Saturday, October 3 for 2009.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series will make their traditional pair of ventures to the Glass City oval again in 2009.  Sunday, May 17 and Friday, September 4 are the dates for the 200 lap contests for the superspeedway-style stock cars.  Federated Car Care has signed on as the presenting sponsor for the May contest, which will also see an ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series event on Saturday afternoon, May 16, and the annual Fan Fest in the track parking lot. 

Open-wheel racing will be featured once a month from May through August at Toledo.  The Buckeye 305 Super Sprints have a Friday, May 15 race slated, followed by the popular All American Coach "Fastest Short Track Show in the World", featuring the ISMA Super Modifieds and the Auto Value Super Sprints Friday, June 12.

After a year's hiatus, the USAC Sprints and Midgets return to Toledo for an open-wheel doubleheader Friday, July 3.  Friday, August 7 the 305's return for another contest and will be joined by the MSA Super Modifieds.

The Monster Trucks return for a 5th consecutive year July 24/25 at Toledo.  The Michigan Legends will also make the trek to Toledo October 3.

School Bus Figure 8's, Boat Figure 8's, Rollover contests, Figure 8 train racing and much more is also included as part of the 50th season schedule at Toledo.

The season will conclude with a new event, an open-competion Enduro race of 100 laps or 2 hours Saturday, October 17.  The track will use portions of the 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile and pit road to form a "road course" type of track, which favors no type of car in particular.  The track's annual Racer's Flea Market and Public Flea Market will take place the same day in the track parking lot.  More details and a very simple rules package will be released at a later date.
