Post Qualifying Inversions Shows No Favor to Schroeder

Canton, MI 5/6/08- It's a common practice with race tracks and sanctioning bodies around the country. Some people love it, some people hate but I'm pretty sure that varies depending which end you come out on. I'm talking about re-draws and inversions after qualifying. For twenty-one year old Justin Schroeder and his family owned race team, JMS Racing, it seems the last two weeks the "inversion lottery" has not been to their advantage.

At the quarter mile ARCA sanctioned Flat Rock Speedway season opener on April 26th  Schroeder qualified his #4 Dr. Kabot Orthodontics/Glass Unlimited of Westland Outlaw Late Model in the third position but re-drew eighth to start the race. After an uneventful night for a season opener, Justin managed a sixth place finish just missing out on a top five. The JMS Racing team then showed everyone this weekend that they had the fastest car as they grabbed the top spot in qualifying, but after the always eventful re-draw the team would have to settle for the eighth starting position. The tight racing action on the already small track makes passing extremely difficult so instead of pushing the issue with a fast car Justin settled for a seventh place finish and a car without a mark on it.

"We've had a couple decent finishes that were no where near where I think we are capable of finishing but that's racing. We had a super fast car this weekend at Flat Rock but on the draw I had to start from a little deeper in the field and that's were I finished. Sometimes the lottery works out for you and sometimes it doesn't, it's just one of those things. My sponsors, Dr. Kabot Orthodontics, Glass Unlimited of Westland, Victory Racing Parts, and All Star Performance have been great to work with and I really want to thank them for their support," said Schroeder.

So far the Michigan native sits sixth in the Flat Rock championship standings after two rounds in the books of the fourteen race season schedule. However, the season will really kick into high gear for the JMS Racing team as the first race of the five races that make up the Gold Cup Outlaw Late Model series at the Toledo Speedway begins on May 9th followed by race three of the Flat Rock season schedule.

"Out of the two tracks Toledo is my favorite and I think it fits our team's style better as well. It is a bigger track, which hurts a guy like me that doesn't quite have the power that some of the guys do but we have always seemed to run pretty good there. It's a track that you have to let the race come to you and if it does, you have a good shot at a top five finish. We only got to test there once so it may take a little bit of tuning the chassis in but we should be alright," stated Schroeder.
