(LONG POND, Pa. - July 30, 2010) - Ohio manufacturer Checkmate Marine has joined Will Kimmel and Mark Gibson Racing, and will sponsor the team's No. 59 Dodge for tomorrow's Weis Markets 125 at Pocono Raceway.
Checkmate, which manufactures a full line of high-performance boats, has a history which dates back to the 1960s. The company will assist Kimmel in his first start at Pocono Raceway, which follows an 18th-place finish at Iowa for the nephew of nine-time ARCA Racing Series champion Frank Kimmel, son of eight-time ARCA Crew Chief of the Year Bill Kimmel, and grandson of historic Midwestern short track winner Bill Kimmel Sr.
"We appreciate Checkmate for coming on board to support us and we want to put on a great show for their customers and employees alike," said Will Kimmel in an official announcement. "I want them to be proud to be associated with us."
Kimmel, 22, has made six ARCA Racing Series starts. His best finish came two seasons ago at Springfield, when he finished eighth.
"I'm really looking forward to Pocono. It's another track I haven't raced on yet, so my goals will be the same as Iowa: Finish the race, run all the laps, and be as competitive as possible while getting experience at this really challenging track," he said. "Mark and the guys have worked hard in the shop to get the car prepared so we can do a great job representing Checkmate Marine."
