TOLEDO TO HONOR FIRST RESPONDERS AT GLASS CITY 200

Toledo, Ohio—September 15, 2016: Toledo Speedway will pay tribute to the men and women of the local members of the police, fire and rescue teams as part of the Whelen Engineering Company First Responder Night this Saturday, September 17 as part of the 28th Running of the Great Lakes Helicopter/Central Transport Glass City 200 Outlaw Late Model race. The rain date for the race is Sunday afternoon, September 18 at 1 p.m.

These individuals may show their ID badge or proper credentials at the ticket windows Saturday night and receive 2 complimentary tickets to the event, courtesy of Whelen.

“The opportunity to honor these individuals as part of the Glass City 200 is only fitting,” noted Ron Drager, Owner and Promoter of the track. “We are very grateful to the men and women who put their lives on the line day in and day out, so that we may enjoy the freedoms of our every-day lives.”

A state-of-the-art Whelen LED safety lighting system has recently been installed at both Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways.

There’s still time to save $5 on advance ticket purchases for both general admission and reserved seating for the 200.

The advance sale ends at 5 p.m. Friday, September 16.Phone orders are being taken by calling the track office at 419-727-1100 or by stopping in at the track office. Most major credit cards are accepted as well as cash for walk-in sales.

ENTRY LIST STANDS AT 30

A pair of drivers that will carry the Great Lakes Helicopter colors are now entered for Saturday’s 200 lap classic. Veteran Scott Hantz and second-generation driver Chad Finley will both be seeking their initial win in the 200.

Newport, MI driver Chris Benson is entered, while Northville, MI rookie Will Sahutske will be looking to make his first start in the 200. Clarkston, MI native Michael Simko has also filed his entry, while Jimmy Thiel will wheel the Plumb Motorsports #66, bumping the list to 30 cars as of Noon on Thursday.

An optional practice session is set for Friday night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The grandstands will be open free of charge for the practice. The pit area will open at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Saturday’s activities begin with practice at 1 p.m., the run for the PASSTIME $500 Pole Award starts at 3:30, an on-track autograph session will take place at 5 and racing begins at 6 p.m. The past winners of the Glass City 200 that are on hand will be introduced during the evening.

Additional sponsors for the Glass City 200 include Penske Shocks, R & M Recycling, Bazell Race Fuels, Sunoco Race Fuels, First Care Ambulance, Burge Wrecking, DTS Drive Train Specialists and Cassens Transport.

The “Pad the Purse” program will award cash bonuses for positions 6th through 15th. The minimum sponsorship is $10. With the dreaded "R" word forecast for race day tomorrow's 2016 Glass City 200, when will the track make the decision to postpone or race for the benefit of those that have to travel to the track and will it be posted online?  Thx!
