RINGGER BIG WINNER AT TOLEDO GREAT 8 NIGHT

Toledo, OH—July 15, 2016: Toledo Speedway hosted its annual “Great 8” Night Friday evening. Matt Ringger, Jeremy Vanderhoof, the duo of Billy Earley/Vanderhoof and Dave Lambert captured the checkered flags. The City of Toledo Employee Appreciation Night was also held, along with Racing Fan Club Night. The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club honored Canadian driver Tony Rumble for his dedication to the sport and the Enduro class. A good crowd turned out for the $8 admission night. Toledo Mayor Paul Hicks-Hudson greeted the crowd in pre-race ceremonies.

The 250 lap Monroe News Enduro race saw the tide change in the final lap. Defending Series champ Robb Remick, who took the lead at lap 144 and was sailing along, had 2 cars spin in front of him as Robb came to the white flag. With no place to go and the pack stacked up behind him, Remick got turned around and came to rest in the infield, giving second place Matt Ringger the lead and the victory. Jimmy Tucker was second, Remick was credited for third, Troy Brehmer was fourth and Derrick Sheppard was fifth. Tom O’Leary IV, Derek Halka, Jeff Metdepenningen, Tony Rumble and Justin Chamberlin completed the top ten in the 24 car starting field.

Jeremy Vanderhoof scored the win in the ARCA Victory Lane Oil Change Figure 8 race, as he grabbed the lead on lap 1, avoided intersection traffic, a near-collision with David Katafiaz and held on for the win in the 25 lap feature event. Dan Apperson stayed within striking distance and took second, Dennis Whisman was third, Dennis Whisman Jr. fourth and Katafiaz fifth, followed by AJ Padgett, Randy Roberts, Dave Lambert, James Vanderhoof, Travis Earley, Ricky Ferrell and Jeremy Fragazzi.

The Figure 8 Train race saw Vanderhoof pilot the rear car of the train led by Billy Earley (2 cars chained together-front car has engine, back car the brakes) and the duo held off a great charge by Kevin Stepinski/Erich Heuschele to win the 12 lap Figure 8 Train race. Troy Herrmann/Randy Roberts Jr., Trina Apperson/Greg Stevens and Travis Earley/Dennis Whisman Jr. were next in line at the finish.

The night was capped off with the wild Boat Figure 8 race. A total of 7 contestants lined up the boats and battled to knock the boats off the trailers. Dave Lambert edged out AJ Padgett for the win as boats slid into the wall, into each other and got upside down. Jesse Carillo, Randy Padgett Jr., Jeremy Vanderhoof, Jeremy Fragazzi and Mark Lavoie were the other competitors.

Toledo Speedway now takes a break for a week while Flat Rock Speedway holds its biggest race of the season, the Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150 for the Late Models Saturday, July 23.

The Great Lakes Mini Cup Cars will make their annual appearance, and the evening will conclude with the return of a Road Course Race for the ARCA Factory Stocks. The course uses parts of the ¼ mile, ½ mile and pit road at Toledo.
