THROW-BACK THURSDAY! February 11, 2016

As the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards prepares for the annual ARCA 200 at Daytona this Saturday, Toledo Speedway will hit an historic mark by hosting its 75th ARCA race on May 22, 2016.  Pictured is the "Moose Man", Conan "Moose" Myers, at the wheel of the famed #0 owned by Jim Stovall of Ft. Wayne, IN.

The duo tore up the short tracks of the Midwest in the 1960's and 1970's, eventually moving into the ARCA Series as well.  Moose captured the 1977 ARCA National title and grabbed 10 wins in his career on the ARCA trail.  5 years later, Scott Stovall, Jim's son, was at the wheel of the #0 and captured the 1982 ARCA National crown.

The nickname of Moose was an apt destription of Myers, a big man in stature and a threat to win any time the #0 hit the track.

Scott told the story of the days of his youth when Moose and his father wanted to test something late in the evening on the race car.  So, they loaded up the car and went to Baer Field, IN Raceway, took the car off the trailer and Scott jumped in the passenger side of the car, holding a flashlight so Moose could see the white line at the bottom of the track!
