THROWBACK THURSDAY! FEBRUARY 4, 2016

Toledo Speedway got its first coat of asphalt for the 1961 season.  The track, built by Herb Koester, began as a 1/2 mile dirt track in 1960.  The grounds of the speedway once was a tomato field.

Many short tracks of the era featured railroad ties that served as the wall that ringed the outside of the speedway.
