TOLEDO’S KING OF THE WING SHOOTOUT FLIES INTO TOLEDO FRIDAY; LEG 2 OF $25,000 HEMELGARN/SUPER FITNESS TRIPLE CROWN BONUS

(Toledo, OH—June 23, 2015):  Drivers from 10 states and Canada will make the trip to Toledo Speedway this Friday, June 26 for the Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness King of the Wing Sprint Car Shootout presented by Lakeshore Utility Trailer Sales.  The Top Speed Modified Touring Series will also be in action, giving fans 2 classes of cars on the fast ½ mile paved Glass City oval.

The King of the Wing (KOTW) National Sprint Car Series will run the Mid-West circuit this weekend. The weekend begins at Toledo Friday, moves to Winchester, IN Speedway Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 at the Anderson, IN Speedway. Former Indy 500 driver and current car owner Davey Hamilton is the lead man for the King of the Wing concept, which will pit drivers from the West coast and South venturing to the Midwest, and, in turn, the Midwest and South pilots will go West later on this season.

Kody Swanson of Kingsburg, CA will go after win number 2 at Toledo for the Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness $25,000 Triple Crown bonus.  If Swanson can win June 26 and then again at the September 11 Toledo Sprint Car race, he will collect the $25,000 bonus, courtesy of Hemelgarn Racing and Super Fitness.

Toledo track management will also host an open-wheel Racer’s Reunion and a vintage race car display as part of the program for the event.

The winged Sprint Cars are the fastest cars on the planet, as demonstrated by the unbelievable 1 lap track record of 12:389, set by Charlie Schultz in 2011!

The “King of the Wing” Series is designed to work with all teams, promoters, fans and sponsors to strengthen pavement Winged Sprint Car racing from coast to coast, working directly with all existing pavement Sprint Car Series.  Long term plans for the Series are to provide a competitive rules package that can apply to all Sprint Cars and create race events that truly allows the promoters and racers to build bigger events, showcase the world's fastest short track cars, and to promote some of the best short track drivers in the nation.

Race fans can save $5 per ticket if purchased before 5 p.m. Thursday, June 25.  Both reserved and general admission seating is available.

Tickets may be purchased by phone by calling the track office at 419-727-1100, by visiting the track office or by downloading the ticket order form at www.toledospeedway.com.   Most major credit cards are accepted for phone orders.

The pit gates open at 2, practice begins at 4, time trials will begin at 6 and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. for the Friday, June 26 event.  The ticket office and grandstand gates will also open at 4 p.m.  The probable entry lists for each division follow this story.
