TOLEDO SPEEDWAY THROWBACK THURSDAY

Toledo’s favorite son in motorsports, Rollie Beale, won track championships at Toledo Raceway Park, Lorain County Speedway and Fremont Speedway before moving up to the USAC open wheel ranks. Rollie would go on to win 32 career USAC Sprint Car victories, 5 of which came at Toledo Speedway, and the 1973 USAC Sprint Car national championship. Rollie’s brother Al Beale won the first-ever race at Toledo Speedway and was the first track champion in 1960. Rollie would go on to become a highly respected race official after retirement from driving, including 15 years as USAC Chief Steward and another 15 years on the ARCA Board of Commissioners.
