MICHIGAN SPEEDWAY PROMOTERS ASSOCIATION MEETS

BROOKLYN, MI—Representatives of Michigan auto racing speedways and motorsports related business concerns attended the annual fall Michigan Speedway Promoters Association (MSPA) meeting held Thursday, October 23 at Michigan Int’l Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.

Owners, promoters and/or management representatives of many oval tracks in the state of Michigan were on hand, including Auto City Speedway, Cherry Speedway, Crystal Motor Speedway, Flat Rock Speedway, Mid Michigan Raceway Park, Silver Bullet Speedway, Spartan Speedway, Tri-City Speedway and Winston Speedway. Participants in the meeting engaged in a closed, 45-minute MSPA Track Owner/Promoter business meeting to discuss matters of importance to the tracks’ ownership and management, near term and long term. MSPA Board Members and Officers include Allan Brown, Joe DeWitte, Ron Drager, Ron Flinn, Gary Howe, Jim Leasure and Tom Sprague.

Upon conclusion of the closed Track Owner/Promoter session, the traditional open meeting portion of the day opened the gathering to include associate members who are not engaged in ownership, promotion or management of individual tracks in Michigan. Joining the track group were representatives of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club, Michigan Legends, MCR Dwarf Car Series, K&K Insurance, National Speedway Directory, Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame, Michigan Race Tire Warehouse, Hoosier Racing Tire, ICAR Top Speed Modified Series, Auto Value Bumper To Bumper Super Sprints, SuperDuster Oil Dry Spreader, Sports Insurance Specialists, Speedway Benefits, Vors Compact Touring Series, Jones Birdsong LLP Insurance, IMCA, ARCA, Sunoco Racing Fuels and Going Green Awards. In addition to participating in the forum, the associate members each made a brief presentation to the MSPA track owner/promoter/management group to conclude the meeting’s activities.

The MSPA holds meetings annually in the spring and fall in the spirit of the MSPA Mission Statement: Providing a forum for motorsports track operators in Michigan to exchange information, resolve issues, promote the sport and strengthen the industry as a whole. The 2015 spring meeting of the MSPA will be Thursday, March 19 in Lansing.
