OFF-SEASON PROJECTS PLANNED AT FLAT ROCK, TOLEDO

October 14, 2014:  With the 2014 racing season now in the books, activity has obviously slowed at both Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways.  There are, however, several maintenance projects in the works, pending weather conditions.

At Flat Rock, the pit area has received additional asphalt millings along the north fence and to the area by the pit pads that are located behind turns 1 and 2.  The backstretch fence and uprights are being torn down, and will be replaced with new poles and catch cables, in addition to 100 feet of new chain link fencing.

The track surface will undergo some repair work in turns 1 and 2, while several patching projects around the track grounds is also on the work schedule before the snow flies.

Toledo will also see some asphalt patching take place under the grandstands and on the track, especially in the turn 1 area leading onto the short track. A total of four (4) additional sign frames are being installed outside of the turn 2 wall of the ½ mile paved oval.

The Speedway Bar and Grille signs located on the front of the building and along Benore Road have been removed.

Repairs of equipment and a general cleaning of the grounds at both tracks has also taken place since the end of the racing season.

Work continues on the 2015 schedules, which should be released by the upcoming holiday season.

The track’s annual awards banquet is set for Friday, October 24 at the Crystal Gardens in Southgate, MI, and the final “official” event of the year is the Racer’s Flea Market-Swap Meet at Flat Rock Saturday, October 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Sale space is just $20 on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Setup begins at 8 a.m.

The Toledo track office is open Monday through Friday during the off-season.  The phone number is 419-727-1100 for information pertaining to either track.
