2012 Glass City winner Senneker has big plans for this year's event

(TOLEDO, Ohio – Sept. 18, 2014) – Terry Senneker knows how to get around Toledo Speedway – and fast.

Senneker won the 2012 Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 and finished third last year. Those accolades didn’t stop him from swinging by the ultra-fast, high-banked, half-mile this week for a test session, however.

“We have tried some new things,” Senneker said during a break in action at the track this week. “We have our notes from before, but some things we are doing we haven’t done here before. It’s going okay.”

Senneker says the Glass City race is always one of his favorites.

“This is like the Kalamazoo Klash for me,” he said. “It’s the Glass City, it’s Toledo and it is the season finale. We always have a great field here. There will be some very high-caliber cars come Saturday.”

The 200 lap classic for the outlaw-bodied Late Models is the longest race of the year and the track's signature event. The race will award $6,500 to the winner, with $1,100 posted to start the race. With bonus money and special awards, a driver could walk away with over $9,000 in cash and prizes.

Senneker, from Wayland, Mich., is hoping to join an elite list of multiple winners of the event, now in its 26th year.

“Toledo Speedway is faster and wider than any track we go to, really,” Senneker said. “You can really put the pedal down here. The set-ups here are all different than anywhere else we go.”

Senneker plans to be back at Toledo for the 5 to 7 p.m. practice session Friday. The grandstands will be open for spectators at no charge for the practice.

Saturday, September 20 is race day. The pit gates open at 9:30 a.m., practice begins at noon, qualifying is at 3 p.m. and racing begins at 5.
