(MOORESVILLE, N.C. - July 26, 2010) - Patriotism is the pillar which supports Jerick Johnson and the No. 76 car of Team Johnson Motorsports, and that will be no more evident than in Lewisburg, Pa. on Wednesday night.
Johnson and the No. 76 The American Legion/David Law Firm Chevrolet - also known as the "Freedom Car" - will be present at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory from 6-8 p.m. on July 28, just days before on-track action begins for Pocono Raceway's Weis Markets 125, the 11th race of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards season.
Johnson will also participate in a community covenant signing between leaders from the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 103rd Armor Regiment of the Pennsylvania National Guard, The American Legion, and the towns of Lewisburg and New Berlin, reaffirming their support for American troops and their families.
The armory, located at 4700 Westbranch Highway, will be open for the public to show their support for The American Legion, racing, and veterans.
"The theme of patriotism and service is everywhere," Johnson said in a team press release. "Then you get to the track on race day, and there's a prayer, the national anthem, and a military flyover. There's an awful lot of pride involved in (racing), and I want to make sure we do the best job of representing the people who stand behind this car and this team."
Johnson is a member of the Sons of the American Legion, while his father and team owner Jack Johnson is a Legionnaire. Jerick's mother, Debby, is an American Legion Auxiliary member.
The lone practice for the Weis Markets 125 takes place from 10:15-11:55 a.m. on Friday, July 30, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at 1:40 p.m. The 50-lap, 125-mile race goes green at 3 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, July 31, with live streaming audio coverage featured on ARCARacing.com and live television coverage provided by SPEED.
